Storbrygga
The building as it appears in a new exterior has largely retained the style of the old Storbrygga (literally, ‘the great wharf’).
Inside the building there will find a informal restaurant which serves delicious fish food, capacity for about 125 people.
We can offer conference/meeting facilities for up to about 180 people, a cognac lounge with historical atmosphere, kiosk shop and reception for the whole facility.
Fishing and hunting permits, hiking maps etc. will be on sale here and it will be possible to hire boats, fishing equipment, lifejackets and so on.
The restaurant
The Hamn i Senja philosophy is to be able to offer arctic food, especially fish and seafood, and as far as possible, use regional ingredients as well as ecological and traceable food products. The restaurant is open every day during June, July and August. Rest of the year, please book in advance.
The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere, and no dress code except your smile :-) We will do our best to keep you smiling!
Væreiergården - the house of the fishing station owners
This has been used as the home of the fishing village owners for many generations. The timber building from 1863 was lost in a fire and the old rooms have now been replaced by a new building in the same style externally. However the inside is somewhat different, now incorporating 4 comfortable apartments of about 73 and 105 m2.Telegrafen - the telegraph station
The old telephone exchange is a timber building from the late 1700s that was moved to Hamn i Senja at the end of the 1800s and used as one of the first trunk telephone exchanges in the region. Today the building has been restored and converted into an apartment with a hallway, living room and kitchen on the ground floor. Upstairs there is a bathroom with shower and WC as well as two bedrooms.Langbua
This building has acted as seafarer’s quarters ever since the old days (’Langbua’ can be loosely translated as ’the Longroom’). Today there are three apartments, each with two bedrooms, sitting room, kitchen and bathroom - now used for employees. The sea houses
Nine seahouses with 18 apartments have been built and finished in 2008. The sea-houses are integrated into the landscape and built on piles at the waterline with their own floating jetties. The apartments face south, and have views over the harbour. Each sea-house apartment is about 75 to 90 m2, consist of two or three bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. The Lutnes apartments
The buildings are on the quayside with beautiful views taking in the harbour area and the majestic Sukkertoppen (Sugar top) mountain. The buildings house seven apartments from 70 m2 to 90 m2. Are you travelling as individuals, you can choose to hire only one room with bath, a small suite with kitchenette, a large suite with kitchen and living room.
Please note that the best view is from the living room, therefor book the large suite or the whole apartment if the view is important during your stay. The greatest view is outside!
The lighthouse with 360 degree panoramic view
At the lighthouse the view over the fjord, mountains and the far horizon can be enjoyed to the full looking for the midnight sun, northern lights or a real storm! Seating for 25.
A perfect place for groups to have their night cap, aperitiff or just to get together. Open every day during summer for everyone if it is no reservations. We/you can bring drinks from the bar, but you are not allowed to bring along your own stuff.
A dance terrace are side by side with a view over the ocean. Here we can arrange concerts, celebrations, wedding ceremonies and of course dancing if the weather allows us to.
The activity wharf - base for activities
There is a sauna, sauna chamber and showering facilities in the building. A trip from the sauna and down to the sea for a refreshing plunge always intensifies the experience. Or more comfortably: a session in the bathing boat with outdoor hot tub, all dressed up in maritime bathing suites also adds an extra something to the happening. The unit is fully licensed, and we are happy to bring you snacks and drinks from the bar.
We have survival suits so you can take an arctic bath in the harbour or go bodyrafting in a maelstrom. You can hire warm suits if you want to take tours on your own or with guide. Flotation suits and lifejackets for fishing trips.
Overnight guests, boat crews and other visitors may use the showers and sauna unit. Please contact staff in the reception.
Badesjarken (the bathing smack)
As one of our specialities we can offer a hot tub in a fishing smack that no longer coped with life at sea. So we brought the smack ashore and refitted it as a comfortable hot tub. Badesjarken is fully licensed and it is recommended that orders for replenishment of liquids are placed at the Medisinutsalget Bar before embarkation. As an extra fillip you can don our stretchy striped bathing costumes of the good old-fashioned and decorous style. This is guaranteed to evoke the right mood for the bathing session.
The bathing smack can be used year-round as it maintains a temperature of between 35°C and 40°C. A quite special experience in winter, for example on the occasion of a ‘julebord’, the renowned Norwegian Yuletide feast, with the Aurora Borealis – the Northern Lights - shimmering over the mountains of Hamn.
