Senja Ski Touring Camp 2018

Ski touring camp Hamn in Senja winter 2018

Senja is a magical island for skiing in Northern Norway, and still undiscovered for many alpine touring enthusiasts. Magnificent and varied landscape with big contrasts and fantastic summit to sea routes. Actually, at Senja you may still be the first to put your signature in the terrain. The mountains of Senja are up to 1000 meters high, and during late winter/spring, when the days are long and bright –  you can ski several mountains during a day. Additionally, on Senja you will be rewarded with a spectacular view to some of Norway’s most beautiful fjords.

Hamn invites you all to the alpine ski camp at Senja from 27 April to 1 May 2018. We will do our best to facilitate a good atmosphere and give you an unforgettable stay with us.

Hamn in Senja is the perfect base with relaxing atmosphere, idyllically situated by the sea surrounded by fjords and mountains. Modern apartments / rooms and short way to magical skiing adventures.

How to get here – transport possibilities

The nearest airport is Bardufoss, which has several daily direct flights from Oslo / Gardermoen (approx. 1.5t). Driving time from airport approximately 1.5t.

We facilitate transport to / from the airport bus at Finnsnes which goes to / from all flights at Bardufoss. If there are many guests  arriving with the same flights, we will try to coordinate transport all the way to/from the airport.

If you want to visit the lively Arctic city Tromsø first, it’s about the same flight time from Oslo to Tromsø. Then it is around 3 hours’ drive to Hamn. It is also possible to take the express boat from Tromsø city center to Finnsnes city, and then we can arrange transfer from Finnsnes to Hamn from there.

Stylish bathing suits can be rented on the spot for the Jacuzzi bathing.

A quick brief about some of the mountains…..

In the book “Top tours in Norway, 156 beautiful slopes in the whole country”, the authors describe Senja as follows: “On Norways second largest island there is a wide range of coastal, alpine peaks with great opportunities for alpine skiing tours, alpine climbing and ice climbing in untouched terrain. The best time for touring is from February to May. Late May can often offer beautiful spring skiing in the rays of the midnight sun. Senja has surprisingly stable amounts of snow throughout the season, and with great variation in the landscape. »

We are very proud of Senja’s many peaks, which offer superb views and skiing conditions. The peaks described in the book are Keipen (938 moh), Stormoa (975 moh), Store Hesten (874 moh) and Kvænan (964 moh). Regarding the weather and snow conditions during your stay, we will take you to the best mountians, and these are some of the ones that will be considered.
