ABOUT HAMN I SENJA

Hamn in Senja has been recognized as one of Norway's best and most exciting destinations. Hamn in Senja is a resort with modern accommodation of a high standard, as well as facilities for courses and conferences. The resort has its own activity department that offers a large and varied range of nature-based activities at sea and on land. Normally we have approx. 25 employees on a year-round basis, while during the summer season, there are approx. 50 employees.

RECEPTIONISTS
Our reception is the heart of many of our daily operations.
In addition to taking care of the guests, the reception has a central role in coordinating and managing the activities that take place. This is the job for a person with a quick head, a good sense of order and system. Working on digital platforms and with bookings will be an important part of the job. 

Requested qualifications:

  • You should preferably have a certificate as a receptionist or relevant experience from working in a hotel and reception/booking.
  • Nordic- and English-speaking skills are a minimum.

CHEF
Our kitchen focuses on quality, local ingredients and dishes with roots in Northern Norwegian food tradition to give over guests the best food experience, but often with our own twist on it. Our restaurant on the quay, Storbrygga Spiseri, is open for a la carte lunch and dinner from the beginning of June to the end of August. The restaurant can accommodate around 110 guests, and we have approximately the same capacity outdoors during summer. 
We also have servings for parties, conferences, weddings etc., in addition to breakfast for all guests staying over. 

Requested qualifications:

  • A certificate as a chef is preferred, but relevant experience can replace a certificate if you also have ambitions and a true passion for making food adventures.
  • Knowledge of Norwegian and Northern Norwegian cuisine is an absolute advantage.

WAITERS
All guests visiting us shall experience pleasant and memorable dining. You are therefore passionate about good service, genuinely welcoming, open-minded and friendly – not to forget solution-oriented. You must also feel comfortable working in a hectic and lively summer season with a lot to do.

Requested qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years restaurant/hotel experience
  • Familiar with the use of electronic tools
  • Age: min. 20 years

HOUSEKEEPING

Daily cleaning of hotel rooms, common areas in hotel facilities and the restaurant. You have an eye for detail, are good at teamwork and are flexible and solution-oriented. You must also be efficient and accurate and have a large work capacity

Requested qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in cleaning, preferably in hotels
  • Desirable with a trade certificate/course in cleaning

GUIDES

Nature-based activities and experiences have a natural and important place in Hamn. During the summer season, most of the activities are maritime activities and mountain and hiking trips. During winter we have several Northern Lights adventures, fjord safaris and other soft winter activities including a comfortable 4 outdoor hot tubs. Employees in the activity department are responsible for equipment and daily maintenance of boats and gear as well as rigging and facilitation for larger events in collaboration with other departments.

Requested qualifications:

  • Skipper with minimum D5L certificate.
  • Kayak guides with the required certification. (The lowest certification is as activity leader)
  • Guides with relevant experience

BOOKING EMPLOYEE - FULL POSITION

We are a resort with many different types of highly appreciated customers. Many offers are tailored in addition to receiving bookings via digital platforms. We are a growing company and skilled booking employees are needed to take care of our customers in the booking process.

Requested qualifications:

  • Preferably education in hotel/tourism or other relevant experience in customer care (administrative)
  • Knowledge and experience in the tourism industry, also from working with booking systems / CRM
  • Used to working on digital platforms
  • You are a happy person who loves to meet and deal with people, takes pleasure in making guests happy, ensures that guests book, AND want to come back again

  • Hamn in Senja provides unique experiences in a spectacular nature. Our employees are the most important resource for us to be able to give our visitors the very best. We have our guests in focus, always.
  • Good knowledge of our activities and confidence in performing the work tasks requires initiative and active participation from the employees.
  • Everyone must be able to communicate in at least English (B1 or higher), and one Scandinavian language (except housekeeping, where only good English skills are accepted, although Nordic language is an advantage)
  • You have the ability to be flexible and with a keen eye that keep you solution-oriented
  • You like variations in the working tasks, a good challenge and thrive in a lively work environment
  • You have good collaboration skills and have a "Yes I can!" attitude towards customers and colleagues
  • You have the ability to reflect, correct, be accurate and follow instructions
